What Happened at Cana

Cana is known for none other than the wedding feast that witnessed Jesus’ first public miracle: turning water to wine. The spot of the actual wedding was not preserved; instead, what stands there is a Catholic church built in remembrance of it.

Close to the church was a souvenir shop where they had plenty of “Cana wine,” olive oil, prayer books, and practically everything else you can imagine. They even gave us a free taste of the wine and it was delicious (non-alcoholic, I must add).

I couldn’t quite explain the feel of everything – visiting the place where Jesus performed his first miracle (although he himself was the greatest miracle already). It was definitely an experience. The only thing I regret was that I didn’t buy me some wine while I was there.
